William Grant (1743-1810) was a fur trader, merchant, and office holder. He was born in Kirkmichael, Scotland, son of John Grant and Genevieve Forbes and married on 27 Feb. 1787 to Marguerite Fafard, dit Laframboise, in Trois-Rivières, Que. They had five children. He died on 20 Nov. 1810 near William Henry (Sorel), Lower Canada.
